Tadalafil and Vardenafil generic versions: SLS endorsement requirement removed

Source: NHSBSA Hints and Tips Issue 61

As of Wednesday 1 October 2025, prescribers no longer need to provide a Selected List Scheme (SLS) endorsement for NHS prescriptions of generic versions of Tadalafil and Vardenafil.

However, prescribers must continue to provide SLS endorsement for the branded versions Cialis (Tadalafil) and Levitra (Vardenafil). The NHS only covers these branded medications for treating erectile dysfunction in specific circumstances as set out in Part XVIIIB of the Drug Tariff.

This update will help patients who cannot tolerate Sildenafil and who currently cannot access Tadalafil or Vardenafil under the SLS criteria.
