Question for Department of Health and Social Care on the cost of hormone replacement therapy for women.
Matt Vickers, asked on the 29th March:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps he is taking to reduce the cost of hormone replacement therapy for women.
Maria Caulfield provided the below answer on the 13 April 2022:
We remain committed to reducing the cost of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) prescriptions for those women who are not already exempt from prescription charges. We will achieve this through an annual prescription prepayment certificate for HRT, which is due to be implemented from April 2023. This certificate will allow individuals to access the annual licensed HRT treatments they require for the cost of two single prescription items at £18.70.
