All Brand Comparisons have been updated in the last couple of weeks and now show the
difference in profitability when prescribed generically and a brand is dispensed, where
appropriate. In addition, the profitability is assessed according to which wholesaler you
obtain that particular product from. This might assist if you use 2 main wholesalers as
not all wholesalers offer the same discount on the same product.
The discount on some products is often available from one or two out of the three wholesalers.
We have tried to reduce the complexity by giving a clear choice on profit alone – clinical need
obviously overrides any profitability considerations.
